Aslan Karatsev v Sebastian Korda Head to Head

The players have met only once on the tour which was earlier this year at the Miami Open, with Korda winning convincingly dropping only three games overall.

Karatsev Hoping For Strong End To Breakthrough Season

Russian Aslan Karatsev has looked to regain the form that propelled him up the rankings to have a breakthrough season in the first half of this year.

Karatsev was a surprise package at the Australian Open making the semi-finals as a qualifier and then going on to win the ATP 500 in Dubai in March. He followed it with a runner-up performance at the Serbia Open in Belgrade, defeated world number one and home favorite Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals en route.

The Russian struggled with form since, but has looked to turn it around since the US Open.

He was a quarter-finalist at the San Diego Open defeating Hubert Hurkacz on the way and made the round of 16 at the Indian Wells Masters defeating Canadian Denis Shapovalov in a stellar performance.

Karatsev put up a stellar performance clinching another title in Moscow and although he lost early in St.Petersburg last week, some of it could be alluded to the toll from the weeks of play prior.

The Russian has an outside shot at a spot in the Tour Finals in Turin and while he may not be able to control his own destiny, he will look to have the best possible outing here in Paris and look to end a stellar season on a high note.

Korda Looking To Revive Form

21-year old American Sebastian Korda had a good start to the season winning titles at Parma, finishing runner-up at Delray Beach, making the quarter-finals in Miami and the fourth round at Wimbledon.

Korda was pipped by many as the one to watch out for in American tennis and also hailed as a future world number one by none other than all time women’s tennis great, Martina Navratilova.

It has been a difficult stretch for the American since the Wimbledon run with a poor string of results through the US Open series ending in a withdrawal through his opening round match in New York with a stomach infection.

Returning to the tour in the Fall, Korda has not been able to rekindle any of the form that saw him excel in the earlier part of the season with early losses in San Diego, Indian Wells and in St. Petersburg last week.

Korda will look to turn around his fortunes sooner rather than later and a good run here in Paris will serve him well towards that.

Karatsev v Korda Prediction and Tip

While both players have impressed this season, Korda’s form has dropped and Karatsev has looked to be back to form in recent weeks. Expect a good contest with the Russian prevailing in straight sets.
