Frances Tiafoe v Marcos Giron Head to Head

Tiafoe and Giron have never featured in a head-to-head clash before. That being said, Tiafoe is coming off a runner-up finish in Vienna and Giron has posted two back-to-back qualifying wins to make the main draw at the Paris Masters, thereby suggesting that both have the momentum to push for a win and produce an absorbing contest.

Tiafoe Looks to Continue Rampaging Form

Carrying the momentum from an encouraging last-16 finish at his home Grand Slam, the US Open, Tiafoe launched his campaign at the Indian Wells Masters with a comprehensive straight-set win over veteran Frenchman Benoit Paire.

The 41st-ranked American followed up his rousing start with another thumping victory over fellow American Sebastian Korda to set up a third-round outing against Poland star and current World No.10 Hubert Hurkacz.

While Tiafoe had the form and belief to push for a maiden Masters title, Hurkacz had other ideas as he flattened the burly American in straight sets to send him crashing of the tournament.

There was more disappointment in store for the American as he went down fighting to three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray in the first round of the European Open.

Down but not out, Tiafoe shrugged off the hurt from the losses at the Masters and in Antwerp and got his Vienna campaign off to a winning start against seasoned Serb Dusan Lajovic after clearing the qualifying hurdles.

After failing to build on strong starts at the US Open and the Indian Wells, Tiafoe finally seemed to be getting his act together in the Austrian capital as he pulled off sensational upsets of current World No.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas, Argentine Diego Schwartzman and in-form Italian Jannik Sinner, playing tennis from another planet, to set up a title clash with World No.4 Alexander (Sascha) Zverev.

Though the American produced fleeting moments of brilliance in the final, the lanky German had just enough ammunition to close out a straight-set win that saw him lift his fifth career title.

Though he finished on the losing side, the runner-up run would feed Tiafoe’s motivation even more to gun for a second career title and a maiden Masters crown in Paris.

He will open his campaign against compatriot Marcos Giron. Though they haven’t played each other before, Tiafoe, on current form, should fancy putting it past his fellow American on Wednesday.

Giron Searching for Belief Ahead of Daunting Tiafoe Clash

After the high of Sofia Open where he reached the semifinal before falling to veteran Frenchman Gael Monfils, Giron seems to have a hit a slump.

Following his run to the last-four at the Bulgarian capital, the 57th-ranked American crashed to a second-round loss to Serb Filip Krajinovic at the Indian Wells Masters.

He fared no better at the Vienna Open, bowing out in the first-round itself after losing to Slovakian Norbert Gombos in straight sets.

Desperate to chart a redemption road, the American cleared the qualifying rounds with wins over experienced Frenchman Giles Simon and Gombos to make the main tournament draw at the Paris Masters.

He will launch his campaign proper on Wednesday against fellow American Frances Tiafoe. Against an opponent who is just coming off a runner-up finish, Giron would have to be at his absolute best to get the result in his favor.

Tiafoe v Giron Prediction and Tip

On current form and ranking, Tiafoe will hold a clear edge going into this opening-round clash with Giron. But the latter is also coming off two qualifying wins and will push for an upset.
