Casper Ruud v Alexander Bublik Head to Head

Ruud Has Sights on Sixth Title of Season at Bercy

It’s been nothing short of a phenomenal season for Ruud as it has seen him lift five of his career Tour titles, the latest of which was at the San Diego Open.

However, there are more more frontiers to be conquered for the in-form Norwegian as he has set sights on capping off a splendid year with a maiden Masters 1000 crown at Bercy.

The Norwegian whose exploits this season has seen him rise to No.8 in singles, will launch his campaign at the Paris Masters later on Tuesday against Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan.

Ruud will take a career head-to-head lead of 2-0 into this second-round contest and, on current form, will fancy extending his unbeaten record against the Kazakh star to 3-0.

Ruud failed to replicate his heroics of San Diego at the Indian Wells Masters as he bowed out in the last 16 after losing to current World No.15 Diego Schwartzman. However, he did lift himself to a quarter-final finish at the Vienna Open.

Hence, he will launch his Bercy campaign playing close to the level that has fetched him five titles and Bublik has to be at his absolute best if he has to get the result in his favor.

Bublik Faces Stern Test

Barring a run to the semifinals at home, at the Astana Open, Bublik hasn’t had much to cheer about at recent events. Currently placed at 36th in singles rankings, the Kazakh star  crashed to a first-round defeat at the Kremlin Cup after losing in straight sets to rookie Ukrainian Illya Marchenko.

Though he opened his next event, the St. Petersburg Open, with a comfortable win over Evgeny Tyurnev of Russia, the Kazakh star was sent packing in the next round by big-hitting German Jan-Lennard Struff.

Shrugging off the disappointment of two failed campaigns, Bublik launched his campaign at the ongoing Paris Masters with a win over former British No.1 Dan Evans.

After going down tamely in the opening set against the Englishman, Bublik fought back to pound Evans in the second. He also bested the Briton in the decider, closing the tie 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 in his favor.

The hard fought win will have given him just the shot of confidence and belief he needs to take down in-form Norwegian Casper Ruud in his next.  However, it will take nothing short of a Herculean effort from the Kazakh star to overturn a 0-2 head-to-head deficit against the Norwegian.

Ruud v Bublik Prediction and Tip

On current form and ranking, Ruud will go into this second-round encounter as the absolute favorite. However, Bublik came back strongly after trailing by a set to win his first-round clash and will play with a renewed burst of confidence in the hope of an upset.

Tip: Ruud to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
