Marton Fucsovics v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

Fucsovics and Mannarino have have been involved in just one career, head-to-head meeting till date, with the former leading 1-0. Their only on-court meeting came in the rond-of-32 at Metz, France in 2018. The Hungarian won the tie in straight sets.

With just one quarter-final finish at the European Open in Antwerp, Belgium in between a string of underwhelming returns on Tour, Fucsovics came into the Paris Masters determined to win a piece of silverware at the fag end of an unflattering and a less-than-fulfilling season.

His last event, the Vienna Open, also ended in a crushing first-round defeat to current British No.1 Cameron Norrie. Determined to throw down the gauntlet at Bercy and get off to a winning start, , Fucsovics opened his campaign with a nervy, three-set win over veteran Italian star Fabio Fognini.

In a match where tossed wildly between both ends, the 40th-ranked Hungarian got off to a rousing start, dominating the early passage of play and wrapping up the opening set in no time.

However,  what appeared to be a lopsided contest into a knife-edged affair thereafter, as Fognini pipped the Hungarian in the second-set tiebreak to take the match to a decider.

The final set produced end-to-end tennis, with neither player managing to break the other’s serve at the end of the regulation 12 games.  However, it was Fucsovics who edged out the Italian in the ensuing tiebreak to eventually prevail 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-5).

Running into 20-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in his next, the Hungarian did take a set off the current World No.1. However, it wasn’t enough as the Serbian sent him crashing out in three sets.

Determined to make a fresh bid for a second career title in the Swedish capital, Fucsovics will launch his Stockholm Open campaign against experienced Frenchman Adrian Mannarino on Sunday.

While his win in their only previous head-to-head clash will stand him good stead going into the Stockholm opener, the Hungarian will know better than to be complacent against the skilled Frenchman.

Mannarino Hopes to Rise From Bercy Downer

After suffering a morale-shattering defeat in the opening round of St. Petersburg Open to Russian star Karen Khachanov, Mannarino, roared on by the home crowd, opened his Bercy campaign with a with a straight-set rout of big-hitting Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili.

However, his campaign was cut short in the second round by fellow countryman Gael Monfils. In an absorbing contest, Mannarimo lost his way after bagging the opening set by a handsome margin to cede ground to his compatriot.

Bringing his years of experience, incredible skills and and trademark showmanship into play, Monfils engineered a miraculous turnaround, winning the second set via a tiebreak and routing his fellow Frenchman in the third to eventually get over the line.

Currently lying at 59th in singles, Mannarino will hope for the percentages to go his way as he opens his Stockholm campaign against Fucsovics on Sunday.

Trailing 0-1 on the head-to-head score, the Frenchman will be keen to get one over the Hungarian but will know the task is easier said than done against an opponent who reached his maiden Grand Slam quarter-final at this year’s Wimbledon Championships.

Fucsovics v Mannarino Prediction and Tip

On current form, neither Fucsovics nor Mannarino will start as favorite in this first-round clash. However, the win in their only previous head-to-head clash will give the Hungarian a slight edge going into this contest. But the Frenchman will be similarly motivated to even the scores this time.
