Marton Fucsovics v Botic van de Zandschulp Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between the World No. 40 Fucsovics and World No. 61 Van de Zandschulp.

Fucsovics Too Strong for Mannarino

Marton Fucsovics dominated his first round match against Adrian Mannarino on Sunday, overpowering the Frenchman 6-4, 6-0.

The Hungarian, who won 87 percent first serve points, dropped just nine points on his serve in the entire match. He converted four of six break points and saved the only one that he faced in the first set to wrap-up the contest in 73 minutes.

Ranked no. 40 in the world, the 29-year-old Fucsovics improved to 26-22 in 2021, with the highlights being a runner-up finish in Rotterdam and a maiden last eight appearance in a Grand Slam at Wimbledon. He came to Stockholm with a 3-7 record from his last 10 matches, but has looked good in the last couple of tournaments, reaching the quarterfinals in Antwerp and taking Novak Djokovic to the decider before exiting the Paris Masters in the second round.

Playing in the main draw at Stockholm for the second time, Fucsovics now has an opportunity to reach a sixth quarterfinal of the season with a win on Wednesday.

Van de Zandschulp Battles Past Serdarusic

Botic van de Zandschulp needed two hours and 22 minutes to see off Croatia’s Nino Serdarusic 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5) in the first round on Tuesday.

Ranked 61st in the world, the Dutchman won 93% (38 of 41) first serve points in the match, but still found the going tough against the determined Serdarusic, ranked No. 241st in the world. Both players got a break each in the first set but neither got broken in the second. However, it was Van de Zandschulp who got the crucial points in both the tiebreaks to seal the contest.

The 26-year-old, who made his quarterfinal debut in majors at the U.S. Open this year, was a semifinalist in St. Petersburg two weeks ago. Tuesday’s win improved his 2021 tour record to 15-9, and on Wednesday, he will be aiming to reach a fourth quarterfinal of the season, having also reached that stage in Melbourne-1 at the start of the season.
