Barbora Krejcikova v Anett Kontaveit Head to Head

Kontaveit Picks Up Right where she Left

Title, third round, title, second round, quarterfinal, title, title, runner-up and now, a semifinal – this is precisely how Anett Kontaveit has performed in her last nine tournaments on the WTA Tour.

But that’s not all – the Estonian has also moved up in the rankings and is currently the World No. 7. Short of a Grand Slam (at least for now), she appears to be well on her way to dominating the season.

The WTA Finals runner-up started her tour here in Sydney where she has so far beaten the likes of Shuai Zhang, Elena-Gabriela Ruse, and Ons Jabeur without as much as breaking a sweat. The number four seed hasn’t dropped a set yet and against Jabeur, she got a walkover in the second set leading 6-4, 0-0 after the Tunisian retired from the match.

Kontaveit has been at the top of her game for quite some time now and has become quite difficult to beat. She is consistent, precise, and doesn’t seem to make mistakes that often.

Krejcikova, Ready for the Challenge

Barbora Krejcikova entered the tournament on the back of an eight-match losing streak, six of which came from her disastrous campaign in the WTA Finals.

Nonetheless, the current world number four has done well to make up for it in Sydney. Starting with a bye into the second round, Krejcikova first defeated Jacqueline Cristian 6-1, 7-5, followed by a near-perfect rout of Caroline Garcia with 6-2, 6-0.

Of course, Krejcikova also enjoyed a brilliant season last year by reaching the top five. On the singles circuit, she won three titles – including the French Open while on the doubles, she also won the same along with the Olympic Gold and the WTA Finals. She is ranked #2 in the doubles ranking while her partner in crime Katerina Siniakova is No. 1.

With this kind of pedigree and a strong game, Krejcikova is more than equipped to reach the final.

Krejcikova v Kontaveit Prediction and Tip

This is a match that can go either way. Both ladies are enjoying a strong service game in the competition and have similar styles of play. Kontaveit is the favourite given her red-hot form while Krejcikova has also proven her mettle time and again.

One thing that we can expect is a long, fiercely-contested game.
