Hubert Hurkacz v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

Hubert Hurkacz leads 1-0 in their head-to-head, winning their last encounter at the 2021 Rotterdam Open in straight sets.

Hurkacz Overcomes Gerasimov

Hubert Hurkacz is Poland’s finest male player right now, but he needed to showcase his outstanding reflexes to overcome the big-hitting Egor Gerasimov of Belarus.

He produced the shot of the tournament so far in the fourth set, with one outstanding diving volley that just kissed the line to move within a game of victory.

Gerasimov is hardly an innocuous first round, but found incredible resolve and exhibited restraint in fluctuating periods in the match. Ultimately though, Hurkacz’s quality shone.

Hurkacz took the first set comfortably 6-2, breaking the serve three times and converting his sixth set point. Gerasimov upped his level to break serve in the second set for a 2-1 lead. However, Hurkacz pegged him at 5-4 whilst he served to level the match. The set would go into a tiebreak in which Hurkacz dominated it from start to finish.

With his back against the wall, Gerasimov began to play loose and he was extremely dangerous. The third set would one more go into a tiebreak, but this time the man from Belarus snatched it against the run of play.

Hurkacz though, came up with an extraordinary shot in the fourth set to keep Gerasimov in check.

Mannarino Silences Australian Crowd

It almost felt like Adrian Mannarino was playing two opponents on Court 7 in a five-set thriller. The Aussie crowd had their teeth into the contest cheering their very own James Duckworth.

Mannarino had established a one-set lead before Duckworth came roaring back into the match to take a 2-1 sets lead. Duckworth’s low backhand slice proved to be a nightmare cocktail for Mannarino to deal with given that the Frenchman hits as flat as a pancake.

But by the time the fourth set kicked in, Mannarino was winning most baseline duels and ran more than Duckworth. And in positions of little margin for error, he found a winner.

Mannarino’s serve improved substantially in the fourth and fifth sets. He admitted the sun was affecting his serving pattern and rhythm earlier in the match. But he restored parity in the fourth set, he was completely unplayable in the decider.

Hurkacz v Mannarino Prediction and Tip

This will be interesting. We expect Mannarino to keep nibbling at Hurkacz with his precise serve to the Pole’s backhand. If Hurkacz is not aggressive enough to take the ball early, he might be dragged into a dogfight. The World No. 11 should still win this, but we reckon Mannarino will take at least a set with the aforementioned pattern of play.

Tip: Hurkacz to win AND Both players to win a set: 8/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
