Rublev Avoids Upset By A Frenchman Again

Andrey Rublev’s season  began with a bout of Covid-19 causing him to miss the ATP Cup. An indifferent Australian Open followed which ended in a disappointing four set loss to veteran Marin Cilic.

Looking to defend his title in Rotterdam, it was a good start to the week for the Russian but he then lost out in an intriguing semi-final to eventual title winner from Canada, Felix Auger- Aliassime.

Seeded second here this week, it has not been the best of weeks for Rublev, who has run into back-to-back three setters against French veterans Richard Gasquet and Lucas Pouille, surprisingly, but eventually pulling himself out for a win.

However, the Russian will be eyeing a title run this weekend, having warmed up well since the Aussie Open exit now, and arch rivals such as Stefanos Tsitsipas clearing out the field for him with early losses.

Bonzi Continues Run Defeating Karatsev

Benjamin Bonzi made it eight wins in a row with victory over compatriot Pierre-Hugues Herbert. Bonzi, who only last week captured the Cherbourg Challenger, has backed up that success with two solid wins in Marseille to reach his first ATP quarterfinal.

The Frenchman was one of the most successful players on the ATP Challenger Tour in the past 12 months and continues to be a class above the rest at that level.

And Bonzi is steadily making his mark on the ATP stage. Having defeated Kamil Majchrzak in the first round, Bonzi needed 87 minutes to overcome Herbert in a match that was largely dominated by serve.

In his maiden ATP quarter-final, Bonzi put up a stellar display against the resolute Aslan Karatsev  allowing the Russian to only win four games  in the match and booked himself a place in the final four

Rublev v Bonzi Prediction and Tip

The Russian starts as a strong favorite on paper, but he has looked shaky this week and his opponent Bonzi has been on a roll. yet to drop a set. Expect a tighter contest than we would think it to be, with Rublev clinching it in a decider.

Tip: Rublev to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
