Cornet has failed to win a tennis match since winning her opening round in Doha against Samsonova 3-6 6-4 7-5 in a 3-set battle, before losing to Sabalenka in the next round.
Since then, the Frenchwomen has suffered opening round defeats in Lyon to Busca, 1-6 6-4 6-1 despite being the 4th seed. Next, in Indian Wells to Kalinskaya 6-4 0-6 6-2 and most recently to Riske in Miami losing 6-2 6-2. Therefore, Cornet will be desperate to make amends and get back to winning ways.
Cornet channeled some impressive form at the start of the year, reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, along the way scoring impressive wins against Muguruza 6-3 6-3 and Halep 6-4 3-6 6-4.
Cornet also defeated Tomova and Zidansek on her way to the last-8 before losing to finalist Collins 7-5 6-1. This is the 32-year-olds standout performance of the year and will be hoping to resurrect this form as the kickstarts her clay season in Charleston.
Cornet is the 12th seed on the green clay, a first win over Alycia Parks will place her in the second round to play either Ruse or Bapiste.

Parks Impressive on the ITF Circuit
Parks has had lots of success on the ITF circuit so far in 2022, and she arrives in Charleston aiming to transfer this across to the WTA tour.
In February, Parks reached the final of the W60 Rome ITF without dropping a set en route to the final, defeating Hewitt, Yuan, Di Lorenzo, and Dolehide before losing out to Maria in 3-sets 6-4 4-6 6-2 in the final to take home the runners-up trophy.
A month later, at the W60 Arcadia Parks is back in another final ousting Manasse, Volynets, Hovde, and Paquet on her way to the final, this time battling through 3 3-set battles to book her spot to battle for the trophy. On this occasion, the American fell against Marino 7-6(0) 6-1 to take home another runners-up trophy.
Cornet v Parks Prediction and Tip
An interesting first round awaits as Cornet aims to secure her first win in over a month and this is her best chance at ending her losing streak, facing an opponent ranked over 100 places below her. It is likely that Cornet will face no problems during this contest and should ease her way into the next round.
