Yulia Putintseva v Rebecca Peterson Head to Head

They played five times before with Putintseva leading 3-2. The most recent one came last year in Nur-Sultan with Putintseva winning 6-2 6-4.

Putintseva Catching Fire on Clay

Yulia Putintseva is a very good clay player with the player from Kazakhstan reaching the French Open quarterfinalist in the past. She’s consistently posted very good scores on clay courts throughout the years and recently she’s picked up a lot of steam during the Billie Jean King Cup.

Playing for Kazakhstan, Putitnseva scored a couple of impressive wins on clay that got her set up perfectly for this clay event in Istanbul. It’s showing as she was quite strong in her first clay match against Linette, a player who is in form herself.

It wasn’t a perfect display as she still struggled with her typical woes of winning her service games but it was a good win against a strong opponent. That should give her confidence moving forward.

Peterson Getting Lucky

Rebecca Peterson was supposed to play Elise Mertens on Monday but rain allowed the match only to be played on Wednesday. It’s hard to tell for whom it was better because early in that match Peterson was completely outplayed by Mertens.

She’s a fairly good clay player with a 10-5 record on the year but Mertens was simply better. The Belgian player served for the first set at 5-4 but lost her serve and then the first set as well with 7-5. Peterson then went up 4-1 in the 2nd set as Mertens retired with an apparent injury.

it’s hard to tell whether she would have won that match had Mertens been fully healthy because for a solid portion of that match she was utterly outplayed. Nonetheless, she moves on with a chance to secure another quarterfinal in Istanbul. She lost in that round last year.

Putintseva v Peterson Prediction and Tip

So this is a matchup between two players that have played a couple of times before. Putintseva is leading 3-2 winning both hard courts matches. On clay Peterson leads 2-1 which is something interesting to note. I think we are in for a competitive match where both could potentially win it.

Putitnseva is playing a bit better with more confidence thanks to those Billie Jean King Cup victories but Peterson might draw some confidence from her comeback win over Mertens. Either way, I think Putitnseva is the better player and I would expect her to win this one. It won’t be easy but I think she will get it done.

Tip: Putintseva to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
