Iga Swiatek v Aryna Sabalenka Head to Head

It’s their third meeting of the season. Swiatek has won both the previous encounters, winning in the quarterfinal in Doha and in the final in Stuttgart.

Overall, the Polish player leads Sabalenka 2-1, with the Belarusian winning at the WTA Finals last year.

Swiatek Knocks Out Andreescu

World no. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland extended her unbeaten streak to 26 matches as she knocked out Canada’s Bianca Andreescu in the Italian Open quarterfinals on Friday.

It was a tough start for the top seed as the 2019 U.S. Open champion put up a gritty display, fighting back each time she fell behind. Both players broke each other thrice in the first set, before Swiatek dominated the tiebreak to go one-set up.

Having claimed the first set, Swiatek took control of the match. She dropped just nine points in the entire second set and raced to a 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 victory.

The win followed her straight set wins over Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the second round and Victoria Azarenka in the round of 16.

The 20 -year-old is now two wins away from defending her title. A win in Rome will also be her fifth consecutive triumph this season. She won the titles in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami and Stuttgart. She sat out theMadrid Open due to an injury, but has returned with same energy in Rome.

Sabalenka Wins First Time Against Anisimova

Aryna Sabalenka ended Amanda Anisimova’s dominance, finally winning a match against the American after losing all four of their previous meetings.

The third seed Sabalenka lost the first set, but she bounced back over the next two sets to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and 52 minutes. The Belarusian failed to save any of the five break points that she faced, but she converted seven of 10 to reach her second semifinal of the season.

The 24-year-old Sabalenka was a finalist in Stuttgart, but couldn’t add to her 10 titles as she fell to Swiatek.

The World no. 8 had beaten Zhang Shuai and Jessica Pegula in straight sets in the previous two rounds this week.

Having got off to a slow start this season, thanks to her faulty serve, Sabalenka seems to have found her touch now. Will she be able to reach a maiden Rome final with a win on Saturday?

Swiatek v Sabalenka Prediction and Tip
