Arthur Rinderknech v Holger Rune Head to Head
Rinderknech has won their only previous H2H which went to a third set tie-break. It was a high quality affair with only 4 breaks in the match which Rinderknech won 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(4). This happened in a Round of 16 match on clay in Kitzbuhel 2021.
Rinderknech Returns after a Month to Jumpstart his Clay Season
The world number 63 returns back on tour after missing more than a month out. His contest against Holger Rune will only be his second match on clay this season. He is defending points here as he reached the quarterfinal of this edition last year.
Rinderknech is 11-10 this year having started the season with a Finals run in Adelaide where he finished runners up to Kokkinakis and reached the semifinal in Doha the next month. But since, then he has struggled for form having won only 2 of past 7 matches on tour.
The Frenchman had entered the draw in Barcelona last month but pulled out due to an undisclosed reason. He will be looking forward to get back on tour and get some wins under his belt. He was 19-10 on clay last year, so he is obviously disappointed to have missed so many matches on clay this year.
Having beat Rune on clay last year, Rinderknech will be quietly confident as he seeks for a few wins on the trot.
Next Gen Rune Having a Breakthrough season
Holger Rune has been a tennis sensation in Denmark since he was a teen. In the last 12 months, he has cemented his name among the future stars on men’s tennis. The ultimate stamp was winning the Munich title (his first ATP Title) last month without dropping a set.
The world number 42, currently enjoying his best ranking takes part in the tournament for the first time. He has a 20-12 record this year and 14-6 on clay. He also won the San Remo challenger as part of his preparations for the clay season.
Rune has all the tricks in his arsenal with no particular weakness. His serve will get bigger as he matures however his court coverage and baseline game is top of the charts. Although unseeded, he has one of the favourites here and we could well see an unseeded finalist.
The Danish professional will seek revenge against Rinderknech having lost to him in their only H2H. Rune will be confident of making a deep run a week before Roland Garros kickstarts.
Rinderknech v Rune Prediction and Tip
Rune’s game has developed ten fold since he last played Rinderknech. He is a heavy favourite for the match as he can nullify Rinderknech big serve and has a played a lot more tennis then his French opponent recently.
