Garcia Back on Tour After a Break

Caroline Garcia had taken a break from the WTA Tour to address a recurring foot injury. She last played in Miami in March where she had to retire halfway through her first round match. This will be her first clay match of the season.

The former world number 4, was a champion here in Strasbourg in 2016. She also reached the semifinal in 2017 and final in 2019. She has found a lot of success here at home and will be very happy to return back in a place with happy memories.

Garcia is 6-8 this season with her highlight being a semifinal run in Lyon back in March. Although she has found good results here, her clay court record is average.

Currently ranked 71, she is far from her best and has been hampered by many injuries in the past three years. She will only be looking to play pain free in Strasbourg and get match fit as part of preparation for the Roland Garros next week.

Erratic Ferro Searching for Consistency

Back in 2019 and 2020, Fiona Ferro was one of the better players on clay in the tour. She won WTA Lausanne in 2019 and finished 17-7 on clay while she won WTA Palermo in 2020 and finished the season 8-1 on clay, all her 8 wins being consecutive.

Once ranked 39, Ferro is now ranked 139 and is searching for form that will get her back into the Top 100 to begin with. She is a clay court specialist and has been desperate to make a deep run in the recent clay tournaments.

Ferro is 4-6 on clay this year and hasn’t even been able to put up a big fight in the matches she has been losing. Her service games have been below par and she has had trouble holding her service games.

The French tennis player did reach the Quarterfinal last year here in Strasbourg and has some important points to defend. She will be every determined here and is lucky to play a player returning from injury.

Garcia v Ferro Prediction and Tip

Although Caroline Garcia has a very good record in Strasbourg, it will be very tough for her after being out for 2 months and this being her first clay match. That being said, Ferro is playing without confidence and won’t be able to take charge. This should be a zig zag match with lot of break of serve and a very probable 3-setter.

Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
