Lucas Pouille v Zdenek Kolar Head to Head
While they have never faced off at the highest level, there has been one meeting between them on the Challenger circuit. That came in 2015, on clay and Pouille was a straight-set winner.

Pouille has been forced to feature on the Challenger circuit with a quarterfinal appearance at in Madrid there indicating signs of spark. Four tournaments on, Pouille has won just one of the six matches he has featured in, which has included three defeats on the Challenger circuit.
With that kind of form under his belt, Pouille will need to figure a way out of the rut and has been fortunate enough to have been given an opportunity to take on a qualifier in this opener.

Kolar Qualifies For the First Time
This will be the first time Kolar features in the main draw of a Grand Slam competition and it has taken him five attempts to get there. It will be a moment of great joy but more vitally given he’s up against a player who has struggled to get going, Kolar will give himself a chance here.
Also because of the manner in which he has come through to the main draw of this year’s French Open with a win over Franco Agamenone. Agamenone was a 4/6 favourite to win that but Kolar came through in straight sets.
Earlier this year, Kolar didn’t start off the season too well, finishing the first three months of the year on a 3-8 win-loss record including matches at the lower circuit.
It has only been in more recent times that Kolar has finally managed to rediscover his form and made it to back to back semifinals and a quarterfinal in three of the Challengers he’s featured in.
