Daria Saville v Petra Kvitova Head to Head
Saville holds a 3-2 lead over Kvitova, last defeating her in the 2018 WTA Beijing. She has won three of their last four meetings – including the one on clay in Madrid in 2016.

Daria Saville started her campaign in Paris with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Valentini Grammatikopoulou of Greece.
She now finds herself in round two once again in the French Open with the hopes of posting her best results in the Slam.
It has been an awesome season for the 28-year-old, who continues her resurgence on the WTA Tour. After being out of sorts and form for the better part of the last couple of seasons, Saville looks wonderfully positioned to reach back to her previous heights.
She started the year outside the top 400 and now finds herself ranked at the #127 spot. Saville has had a few impressive runs, including reaching the quarterfinal in Guadalajara and Miami Open, and the fourth round in Indian Wells.
Over these tournaments, she has beaten the likes of Emma Raducanu, Ons Jabeur, Shuai Zhang, and Elise Mertens. As a former world number 20, Daria is more than capable of carving a few upsets here too.

Kvitova Knocks Out Bondar
Petra Kvitova is looking to reach her maiden final at the Roland Garros. The best she has done is reaching the semifinal twice – the most recent being the 2020 edition. Last year, however, she fell in round two itself.
The number 32 seed will hope to avoid that fate this time. In the opener, she knocked out Anna Bondar with 7-6(0), 6-1.
It has been a sloppy year for the former world number two, who now finds herself at the #34 position on the tour. Her 2022 tally stands at 10-11 at the moment with only a couple of discernible runs under her belt.
The 32-year-old lost her opening-round matches in Charleston, Stuttgart, and Madrid. Kvitova had a much better time on the hard courts – notably in Miami and Dubai where she reached the quarterfinal. Apart from that, the Czech was dismissed in the early matches.
Kvitova v Saville Prediction and Tip
Ordinarily, Kvitova would start as the favourite – in fact, the bookmakers are pegging her to win this match at 4/9. However, given her erratic form, inconsistency, and a proclivity to lose to lower-ranked players like Priscilla Hon, Sorana Cirstea, Irina-Camelia Begu, Magdalena Frech, and Jil Teichmann, Saville’s chances cannot be ignored.
In some ways, this is an evenly-matched affair that can swing either way. But for those looking for a safer option, over 20.5 games is the way to go.
