Danielle Collins v Shelby Rogers Head to Head
The H2H record reads 1-1 with both matches being played on outdoor hard. Collins won the first H2H in straight sets while Collins had to give a walkover in their second meeting after Rodgers won the first set.

Collins has been in mixed form heading into the French Open. She lost her second match in the Rome and Madrid masters in straight sets. She was beaten 6-1, 6-1 by Bianca Andreescu in Madrid and 6-2, 6-2 by Amanda Anisimova in Rome.
Having been blown away by top players in her previous tournaments, there was a concern about the level in which Collins will play in Paris having reached the Finals of the Australian Open earlier this year.
However, the world number 9 stormed through the gates in the first round to win 6-0, 6-4 against Viktoriya Tomova. She was unplayable in the first set but had gone done an early break in the second to swiftly recover.
Danielle Collins has a dynamic game style and can be very explosive. She reached the quarterfinal of Roland Garros in 2020 and reached Round 3 last year. She enjoys the clay and having done well here previously, fans can expect a good run from her here.

Rogers faces a Difficult Challenge on Clay
Shelby Rogers was in a 5 match losing streak prior to playing in Paris. She had also not won a single match on clay this season before playing her first round match here.
The American overcame Czech Republic’s Tereza Martincova 6-4, 6-3 in the first round. She was very strong from the baseline and saved 5 break points in the match.
The world number 50 had previously reached the quarterfinal of the French Open back in 2016. But her general career record on clay is not so good.
She has being going through a substandard year with a 7-10 record. Rodgers hasn’t been playing with confidence and is need of a deep run at a major event. She now faces a compatriot who she has never beaten before in a completed match.

The Americans have a similar playing style especially how attacking minded they are. Both are excellent from the baseline but the backhand of Collins is much more reliable. Collins at her best has a superior all round game than Rodgers and should be able to win in straight sets.
