Casper Ruud v Lorenzo Sonego Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players and Ruud has won every single time. One of these matches came on the clay courts of Rome in 2020 where Ruud was a straight-set winner.

In what was his sixth win in a row, Ruud sent out the the world number 61 Emil Ruusuvuori 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the second round of the competition.
Ruud, who was on court for two hours and 10 minutes, demolished his Finnish opponent as he saved all the four break-points he faced in the encounter.
The world number eight, in turn, broke Ruusuvuori four times in the match, once apiece in the first two sets and twice in the second to wrap up the match without too many worries.
This win had followed a difficult opener for Ruud in which local lad Jo-Wilfried Tsonga grabbed the first set in a tie-breaker before the Norwegian player needed to come back to win the next three and the match. Ruud had faced three tie-breakers in that encounter.

Sonego Skittles Sousa with Ease
There was a feeling Joao Sousa would give Sonego a run for his money in the second round but the Italian player showed he’s made of greater mettle as he registered a straight-set win to move into round three
Sonego, who had reached the fourth round at French Open two years ago, sent Sousa packing 7-6 (4), 6-3, 6-4 to clinch his berth in the round of 32.
The match lasted two hours and 39 minutes and saw Sonego blast 10 aces and a whopping 47 winners to go with just 33 unforced errors in the encounter. And while Sonego was broken three times, he broke back five times including early breaks in the second and third sets that helped him carve out the victory.
And while Ruud will be a challenge of a different, superior kind, Sonego’s clinical play so far should give him that confidence heading into their encounter.
