Mackenzie McDonald v Ilya Ivashka Head to Head

The pair have played each other before, all four meetings occurring in the last 18 months.

In 2021 Ivashka won on the clay of Munich, but McDonald was victorious in Washington on hard courts. This year, McDonald won again on the hard courts of Montpellier, whilst it was Ivashka’s turn to triumph once again in Munich.

McDonald Coming off Roland Garros Third Round

Like his opponent McDonald has a Wimbledon fourth round appearance on his CV, although, in his case, it came back in 2018.

That matches his best ever run at a Grand Slam event, emulating that feat at the 2021 Australian Open.

The American reached his first ATP final last year in Washington, where he lost to Jannik Sinner, and, this year, he has effectively consolidated his position in the world rankings, with a series of solid, if not spectacular results, including a quarter-final in Dubai.

Not renowned as a clay court player, he enjoyed his best ever run at the French Open, reaching the third round for the first time, only for Sinner, yet again, to bring the curtain down on his participation at Roland Garros.

Ivashka Made the Fourth Round of Wimbledon 2021

Ivashka reached the fourth round at Wimbledon last year, and, although he was not brought up on grass, to date that remains his best performance in a Grand Slam tournament.

That was at the start of what proved to be a successful summer for the man from Belarus, which also saw him win his first ATP title at Winston Salem and make his debut inside the top 50.

2022 has proved to be more of a struggle so far for the 28-year old, with two quarter-finals, one in Marseille in February, and, more recently, another in Geneva last month, the best he has managed so far.

At the French Open he beat local man Benoît Paire in the first round, before his interest in the tournament was ended by Cristian Garin of Chile.

McDonald v Ivashka Prediction and Tip

Their head to head record, and the fact that they can both boast a Wimbledon fourth round appearance to their name, suggests this will be a close match. Ivashka might start the marginal favourite because of his higher ranking, but there is very little in it.

Tip: Ivashka to win: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
