Elena Rybakina v Shelby Rogers Head to Head
It’s 3-1 to Rybakina who has won their last three encounters – two of which came on the grass courts in Berlin and Wimbledon last season. They most recently met in Adelaide this year where the Kazakh won in three sets.

22-year-old Elena Rybakina is on the prowl for her first singles title of the season. Although she has had a pretty decent season (21-10 as of Wednesday this week), a singles title will certainly make things a lot better.
She did come close to winning one in Adelaide 500 where she lost in the final to Ashleigh Barty. Since then, however, Elena has endured a litany of early exits in a majority of the subsequent events.
The exceptions to this exist, of course. Most notably, she was a quarterfinalist in Indian Wells alongside reaching the third round successively in Madrid, Rome, and Paris. In these tournaments, Rybakina fell to Jil Teichmann twice while in the French Open, she was dismissed by Madison Keys.
Here in the Libema Open, she started the grass swing with a 6-4, 7-5 win over the American qualifier Jamie Loeb.
Seeded number three for the WTA ‘s-Hertogenbosch Open 2022, the current world number 21 has a good chance of carving a good run. The last time she was here (2019), she reached the semifinal as a qualifier before losing to Kiki Bertens.

Rogers Surpasses Diatchenko
Shelby Rogers has had a pretty uneventful season so far as she looks for a turnaround on grass. She is off to a positive start as she defeated Vitalia Diatchenko in straight sets.
This also marks the fourth time this year that the American has won successive matches in a tournament. Her best run came in Indian Wells, Miami, and the French Open where she made it as far as round three.
On the back of an erratic, inconsistent season, Rogers must certainly feel the pressure to deliver. Taking on Rybakina will make things difficult for her but the 29-year-old is experienced enough to be up for the challenge. She also broke through the top 40 for the first time in her career this January, giving her some positives to work with.

Rybakina should win this one although, we may see her struggle a bit. It wouldn’t be surprising if this turns out to be a long affair.
