Brandon Nakashima v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

They played twice before with each winning one. Nakashima won the most recent one in Indian Wells.

Nakashima The Tie-break King

Brandon Nakashima lost one set in two matches and won four obviously. All five of those sets went to the tiebreak which is not unheard of tennis but it shows just how hard he is to beat when he’s playing well.

Brandon Nakashima has the prototypical American game and they historically do really well on grass because of it. A strong first serve with a very solid forehand is all you pretty much need on grass and it’s worked out well for him. A quarterfinal here with a chance for the semifinal.

Mannarino is the defending champion so beating him will be very tricky but Nakashima can do it. He bested him in Indian Wells in two sets but it’s going to be a bit trickier here. They are both serving and playing well. I’m pretty sure we’ll see at least one tiebreak here so keep that in mind.

Nakashima complicated things against Querrey quite a bit. He had to save 3 set points at 5-6 in the 2nd set and he was played a very close tiebreak barely squeezing through. He showed some resistance so that should bode well for him if this is close.

Defending Champion Mannarino Rolling

Not many expected Adrian Mannarino to defeat Alex de Minaur in the 2nd round of this event yet he destroyed him 6-2 6-3. It was another good showing from the Frenchman who lifted the trophy here in 2019. In this first sedition since then, he’s in the quarterfinal

There is something that suits him here and he generally always laid well on grass. He pushed Roger Federer quite hard last year at Wimbledon but injured his knee and was forced to retire. Mannarino’s style is a bit unusual and it can give players quite some trouble.

He’s more precise and less so dependent on power which is atypical for men’s tennis nowadays. Nakashima faced him before so he knows what’s he up for. Grass will make things harder for both of them and we probably should see a very close and competitive affair.

He did not face a break point in round one and that was crucial and he saved four of 5 he faced against De Minaur which was also crucial. He needs to keep playing well on his serve against Nakashima because there won’t be many chances to break.

Nakashima v Mannarino Prediction and Tip

So we have two players that are playing well and are in good shape. Both have a noted combination of serve + forehand s expect a tiebreak here, maybe even two. A lot will depend on the serve for both but if they play the way they can it should be fairly close.

It’s very tricky to pick one play who could win this match as realistically both could, especially if the match ends up being decided in the tiebreak. I think Nakashima has more upside so I will back him to get it done as he looked more sturdy so far but it could go either way. The over should be considered as well.

Tip: Nakashima to win: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
