Pablo Carreno Busta v Holger Rune Head to Head
Carreno Busta leads the H2H 1-0 winning an indoor quarterfinal in Metz last year, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
Busta Hopes to Improve Grass Record
Carreno Busta had reached the final in Barcelona towards the end of April , losing to wonderkid Carlos Alcaraz in the final. Since then, Carreno Busta has lost 4 of the 5 matches he has played. These include first round exits in Madrid Masters and French Open.
A former top 10 player and currently ranked 19, Carreno Busta has been of the most consistent players in the tour over the past few years and has a game style for both clay and hard surfaces.
Going into the grass season, the concern for the Spaniard is he has a 5-11 career record on grass. He actually lost the first 5 matches he played on grass in his career.
He is yet to win a first round match in Wimbledon, and will be playing in Halle and Mallorca to ensure he gets his best result in Wimbledon this year. The Olympic Bronze medalist has a 16-12 record this year.
Rune to Debut on Grass
Holger Rune will be playing his first official ATP match on grass when he plays the first round match against Carreno Busta.
The Danish NexGen arrives in Halle on the back of a spectacular quarterfinal run in Roland Garros. He defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas, Denis Shapovalov and home boy Hugo Gaston in that run. He also lifted his first ATP title in Munich in the last week of April.
Enjoying a career high ranking of 28, the 19 year old is 27-14 this season and though he hasn’t played on grass before, his all round ability and depth of skills will ensure he settles on the green surface comfortably.
Rune is coached by Lars Christensen, and has been coached by him since he was seven years old.
Carreno Busta v Rune Prediction and Tip
While Busta has not been proficient on grass, Rune is only playing his first match. Both players are technically adept and have good court coverage. Neither player has an stand out advantage, hence best option here is to go with over games.
