Karolina Pliskova v Kaia Kanepi Head to Head
Pliskova has won all three of their previous meetings.
Pliskova Looking to Find Form on Grass
Karolina Pliskova missed out on the early part of the season after suffering a hand injury just before the Australian Open. The Czech player has found the going touch ever since her return to the tour. She struck form in Strassbourg, reaching the semifinals but could only go as far as the second round at the French Open.
The World no. 1 is 6-8 this season, but will aim to improve that record on grass this year. She had a terrific run last time she played on the surface, reaching the final of the Wimbledon in 2021, only to finish runner-up to Ashleigh Barty.
Pliskova is one of the better grass court players currently in the world. She has a 43-20 overall record on the surface, and has won three titles and finished runner-up thrice in grass court events.
She lost her opening match in Berlin last year, but will look to get into rhythm in the tournament this year.
Kanepi Has Struggled on Grass Over the Last Nine Years
She maybe 37 but Kaia Kanepi keeps reminding us from time to time that she can still remains a force to reckon with. Kanepi reached a seventh Grand Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open this year, which was her first since 2017.
She has a 14-7 record in the main draws this season, and the two-time Wimbledon quarterfinalist would look to improve on that already impressive record.
However, she hasn’t been very effective on grass recently and ever since losing in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2013, she has won just four tour-level matches on the surface.
Can she pull of a surprise? Seems unlikely.
Pliskova v Kanepi Prediction and Tip
Karolina Pliskova should get some rhythm going with a win in the opener.
