Karolina Pliskova v Bianca Andreescu Head to Head

World No. 7 Karolina Pliskova made a resounding comeback to defeat Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi in the first round in Berlin on Monday.
Pliskova, who didn’t hold a break point in the first set, saved all seven break points that she faced to force the tiebreak. Kanepi fell a minibreak behind but recovered to take the tiebreak and the opening set. What happened next was something that hardly anyone could have believed, as the 2021 Wimbledon finalist lifted her game and destroyed the Estonian by bagelling her twice over the next two sets.
Pliskova served 17 aces in the match, saved all eight break points and capitalised on 6 of 8 breaking chances to win the contest 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 6-0. While the first set had taken 56 minutes, the other two combined needed just 50 minutes.
Pliskova, who improved to 7-8 this season, has a 44-20 overall record on grass, and has won three titles and finished runner-up thrice in grass court events.

Andreescu Edges Past Siniakova
World no. 69 Bianca Andreescu registered just her second win on grass court on Monday as the 21-year-old edged past Katerina Siniakova in the opening round in Berlin.
Andreescu, whose only previous win on grass came over Christina McHale in the first round in Eastbourne last year, improved her record on the surface to 2-4 as she edged past the Czech player 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
The Canadian saved 7 of 13 and converted 7 of 11 break points in the match that last two hours and 16 minutes.
The 2019 U.S. Open champion, who has been affected by injuries over the last two years and also took a break earlier this year due to physical and mental issues, improved her season record to 8-4. She has reached one quarterfinal this year, in Rome, and will be aiming for another on Wednesday.
