Draper Achieves Landmark Win

Draper, who is an accomplished grass court player, and knows that he is guaranteed  a Wimbledon wildcard, achieved a landmark win over the American Taylor Fritz, the number four seed, in the first round on Monday.

Not only was it his first win over a top twenty player, but it also confirmed his ascent into the top 100 for the first time in his career.

There was nothing fortunate about his win over Fritz though.

After both men had seen break points saved, he broke his opponent in the fourth game of the first set and held on to his advantage to take the set.

An early break put him in control of the second set as well, which he underpinned with another break.

Fritz saved a match point on his own serve, but Draper wrapped up the win in the next game.

Ruusuvouri Struggles Past Qualifier

It would be hard to describe Ruusuvouri’s victory over the French qualifier Quentin Halys as equally impressive.

The Finn started well enough, one break of serve enough to earn him the first set.

And he seemed to have the match in his grasp when he broke Halys early in the second set as well.

But the world number 86 responded with a break of his own, and went on to win the tie-break to level the match.

Both men had break opportunities in the third set, could not take them and the outcome of the match hinged on the tenth game. Halys, serving to stay in the match, saved three match points, before Ruusuvouri made the fourth one count.

Draper v Ruusuvouri Prediction and Tip

Although Draper is the lower ranked player, he is playing on a surface that suits him, and buoyed by his victory over Fritz, will be keen to progress further.

Tip: Draper to win: 7/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
