Ons Jabeur v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these and Jabeur won both of them in three sets. Their most recent outing came at the WTA Doha earlier this year in the second round there.
Jabeur Stretched by Parks
It turned out to be a straight-set win in the end but Jabeur did feel a bit of pressure in the second set of her second round victory over Alycia Parks.
Jabeur registered a 6-2, 7-6 (8) victory, with the Tunisian needing an hour and 33 minutes to carve out the win.
The Tunisian, who had earlier gotten past Karolina Muchova in the first round, raced through the first set and despite getting broken in the sixth game, she wrapped it up in double quick time.
It was in the second set that Jabeur found the going very tough, and despite taking a 3-1 lead at one stage, she was pushed into a tie-breaker. What might have irked her a tad is she missed four match-points in it, before winning it off the fifth.
What she would hope for is a better showing than what was on offer in the second set when she faces Sasnovich.
Sasnovich Pulverises Petkovic
After a struggling first round win over Anastasia Gasanova, Sasnovich registered a straight-set win over Andrea Petkovic in the second round to seal her quarterfinal berth beside Jabeur.
Sasnovich won 6-4, 6-4 in an hour and 38 minutes despite getting her serve broken three times in the encounter.
An early couple of breaks of serve helped Sasnovich take a 3-1 lead in the first set which she then consolidated and managed to carve out the lead.
She exchanged a break apiece in the second set in the early part of it and then again in the seventh and eighth game before a decisive one in the ninth game helped her clinch the win.
A better serving will be the need of the hour against a player of the pedigree of Jabeur though.
Jabeur v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip
No surprises who starts off a favourite here with Jabeur at 1/3 to clinch this and 8/11 to do that in straight sets. Backing the latter here.
