Impressive Comeback From Bublik

Alexander Bublik dropped the opening set against Frances Tiafoe but he was also able to come back and win the match in three sets. The final set was particularly impressive as it was a 6-0 bagel for Bublik.

What can you say about Bublik. A player with tremendous potential and a very unserious attitude towards tennis. When he wants to play he’s superb but when he doesn’t it’s not pretty. Just last week against Cilic in Queen’s Club Bublik was up 5-0 against Cilic in the opening set tiebreak.

He had the set in hand but he played two careless points trying to impress the crowd by joking around. He lost those points and gave Cilic some wind which he used to overturn the opening set and win in the 2nd set. He threw that match away when he didn’t need to.

The danger for betting him is that that can happen at any time. He was up 5-2 against Tiafoe but lost 5 games in a row to lose the first set 5-7. He pulled out the 2nd set in the tiebreak and won the final with a bagel. Impressive but could have been a lot simpler.

Welcome Back John Millman

John Millman has been largely MIA for the top of tennis for a few months as the Australian struggled to string together a very good run. It’s been a year for the Aussie who is 13-17 on the year but he’s returned to some form on grass.

It’s 4-2 so far this year with his general play over the years on grass being quite solid. Millman moves well and that allows him to play very good counter tennis with the ball bouncing low. It’s a very tricky combination to overcome and Sebastian Korda had no idea how to do it.

A huge win for Millman over a player that can do some damage at Wimbledon with his serve and forehand. The Australian has been struggling up until recently but two wins in the qualifiers have clearly given him some confidence. It’s crucial for him as he is slipping through the ranking and if he’s not careful he might drop out of the top 100.

That’s less than ideal for a veteran. Now he has a chance to move further in this event against a player who certainly can get frustrated with the way Millman plays.

Bublik v Millman Prediction and Tip

So they never played before and that works well for Millman. He has a very annoying style to play that should frustrate Bublik quite a bit. If the Aussie can keep Bublik away from break points he will have a chance.

Bublik has the superior talent but you just never know with him and his motivation. He might smash him or he might lose. I do think we will see three sets here so consider that option. Overall I will back Bublik because he should be feeling good after that comeback.

Tip: Bublik to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
