Jil Teichmann v Harriet Dart Head to Head
This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.
Teichmann Seeking her First Grass Win of 2022
World No. 23 Jil Teichmann has been a tennis pro for more than five years now. Surprisingly, she has won just one match on the grass surface – a qualifying win over Fanny Stollar in the Mallorca Open 2019.
Since then, the Swiss has conquered many great heights. She is a part of the top 30 and was a runner-up in the Cincinnati Open last season.
Jil has also enjoyed a pretty decent season so far; her tally is 18-13 and the highlights reel includes quarterfinal runs in WTA Dubai and Italian Open and a semifinal stint in Madrid. Over the course, the number 10 seed has defeated a handful of big names like Karolina Pliskova, Leylah Fernandez, Petra Kvitova, and Elina Svitolina.
Teichmann has a good opportunity to deliver something similar on grass albeit, she did lose to Daria Saville last week in the German Open first round in three sets. That said, she was the doubles runner-up with Alize Cornet.
Dart Upsets Brengle
World No. 103 Harriet Dart commenced her week in Eastbourne with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Madison Brengle in the first round.
Playing under the home advantage, the 25-year-old will hope for a good run here before the action moves to Wimbledon. Her form so far in England has been rather wobbly.
In ITF Surbiton, she lost to Natalija Stevanovic while in Birmingham last week, she bowed out to Simona Halep after beating Camila Osorio. Sandwiched between these runs is a quarterfinal stint in Nottingham where she upset a few tennis veterans like Donna Vekic and Camila Giorgi.
That elite-eight stint was Harriet’s first prominent run since reaching the fourth round in the Indian Wells Open as a qualifier this year. On the whole, however, she has been largely erratic and inconsistent.
Dart v Teichmann Prediction and Tip
This match can go either way. Teichmann has the advantage of being a comparatively superior player owing to her experience in top-tier events. Dart, however, has the home advantage and can capitalise on the Swiss’s shoddy form on grass.
