With a quarterfinal and a semifinal finish in her previous two tournaments, Maria Sakkari comes to Eastbourne in good form.
The World No. 5, who is 5-2 on grass, has an overall record of 25-12 this year. Some of her major accomplishments include runner-up finishes in Indian Wells and St. Petersburg and runs to the semifinals in Qatar, and Berlin last week.
The Greek lost a dramatic three-setter against Belinda Bencic in Berlin, but she would look to put that setback behind and make a quick start in Eastbourne.
Sakkari has an overall record of 16-13 on grass courts and will be looking to build on that with another deep run in the tournament.

Kalinina Advances After Cirstea Retirement
World no. 36 Anhelina Kalinina moved into the second round in Eastbourne after her opponent Sorana Cirstea retired in the second set of the opening round.
Cirstea, who lost a tough three-setter in the semifinal in Birmingham on Sunday, was outplayed by Kalinina in the first set in Eastbourne on Monday and was trailing 0-6, 1-2 in the match before pulling out.
The Ukrainian, 25, had come into the tournament with a 1-2 record on grass this season, from the Rosmalen and Berlin Opens.
Her best displays this year were quarterfinal finishes in Madrid and Charleston. Kalinina doesn’t have a lot of grass court experience and may struggled in the second round.
