Daniil Medvedev v Roberto Bautista Agut Head to Head

They played four times with Medvedev winning only one. It came last week in Halle 6-2 6-4.

Strong Medvedev Comeback

Daniil Medvedev looked quite disinterested in the first part of the match against Aslan Karatsev in round two of Mallorca. The Russian dropped the first set 4-6 after playing a bit too loose at times.

He did not get discouraged and raced back to win the 2nd 6-3 and the final one 6-2. It was a strong comeback win for the Russian who finally found a good rhythm and from there on out it was impossible to play him. He struggled with his serve early due to the windy conditions in Mallorca and that’s something that can prove a problem for him.

In Halle, he was able to save multiple break points in several matches due to his serve but here it won’t be a large factor. Once he found a good rhythm, Medvedev attacked quite a bit wanting the match to finish sooner. His serve also improved as the match went on and he did not allow a single break point after the opening set.

Overall a good comeback win for the defending champion who hopes to win this event once more.

Bautista Agut Gets a Walk Over

Roberto Bautista Agut got a bit lucky with a walkover against Nick Kyrgios. The Australian player pulled out of the event due to some abdominal pain earlier in the day.

It was supposed to be a rather interesting match but it was not meant to be. It means that Bautista will have only one match in Mallorca before the quarterfinal which is not ideal. He played well in it and he certainly build upon that against Medvedev who can be a bit aloof.

They played last week in Halle and the Spaniard gave Medvedev some early issues in that match. After the Russian found his footing, he smashes Bautista rather easily for his first win over the Spaniard. Bautista is actually 3-1 against Medvedev all time which is impressive.

There is something about his game that bothers the Russian and the conditions here should favour him a bit better than in Halle. Will it be enough though?

Medvedev v Bautista Prediction and Tip

So they played last week in Halle and while Medvedev won that match rather easily I don’t think that will be the case here. I think Bautista will come out stronger this time because the Russian won’t be able to hide behind the serve as much.

There will be wind, he might be a bit disinterested but I still think Medvedev wins this one. The reason is simple, he wants to defend his trophy and after this event, he’ll go on a vacation. Bautista will go to London and it’s unclear just how much he’s motivated about Mallorca.

Tip: Medvedev to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
