Taylor Fritz had won his first title in the ATP tour in Eastbourne in 2019. He was a heavy underdog in the semifinal against Kyle Edmund and in the final against Sam Querrey.
Since then he has only one title, which was the Indian Wells Masters this year. Since then, his best performance was reaching the quarterfinal in Monte Carlo.
Fritz is now 22-10 this year and hasn’t been at his best since his Masters title. He got a bye in the first round in Eastbourne and grabbed his first win of the grass season in the second round against Thiago Monteiro, he won 7-5, 6-3.
The American has suffered two defeats this grass season already. He lost his first match in the Hertogenbosch Open to eventual champion Tim van Rijthoven and then faced a first round exit at Queens to local favourite Jack Draper.

Bublik Riding High after Return from Brink of Exit
Alexander Bublik is not the conventional tour player. He has a big serve and has an unpredictable nature to his game. He could play an under arm serve during the most important point of the match, just to entertain the crowd.
In the first round match here in Eastbourne, Tiafoe had two break points in the second set at 7-6, 5-5 and failed to convert them.
Tiafoe lead 4-2 at the first change in the second set tie break, and Bublik won the next five points to take the second set. Bublik went on to win the third set 6-0.
Bublik beat Australian star John Millman 6-4, 6-2 in the second round, and was raining down aces to take his ace count to 32 in two matches.
The Kazakhstani had lifted the Montpellier title earlier this season and is currently in form this grass season. His big serving nature enables him to win any match on his day, and having beaten Fritz thrice in the past, he will believe he can make the semifinals.
