Tiafoe has made recent advances in his career, breaking the top 25 on the rankings chart but his recent form has been anything but spectacular.
The American, who was a finalist on the clay courts of Estoril, has since lost six matches out of the seven he’s participated in, including three in a row recently coming into this tournament.

Vavassori, a Surprise Entrant in the Main Draw
Before the start of this season, Vavassori had never played a competitive match on grass.
Before the start of these Wimbledon qualifiers, Vavassori had never won a competitive match on grass. He lost both the qualifiers he featured in, at the Nottingham Challenger and Ilkley Challenger.
Which is why in two of the three qualifying matches he featured in at Wimbledon, Vavassori went in as a second favourite. He overcame Bradley Klahn in the first round, needing three sets, then crushed Joao Menezes in the second before carving out a shock, four-set win over the 120th-ranked Zdenek Kolar to make the main draw.
And while surmounting Tiafoe will be a tough one, Vavassori has already gotten himself his best showing – a main draw appearance in a Grand Slam.

Tiafoe should not have too many difficulties despite his performance on grass. Expect one of the sets to be a fighting one at the very least.
