Ymer’s Second Successive Wimbledon Appearance

Mikael, the younger and higher ranked of the two tennis playing Ymer brothers, reached his first senior singles’ final in Winston Salem last year, although he was then thrashed by Ilya Ivashka.

This is his second time at Wimbledon, having made the second round last year.

The Swede reached the semi-finals in Rotterdam in February, but then experienced a lean few months before experiencing a mini return to form at the French Open, where he reached the third round before losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas, his best ever showing in a Grand Slam event.

He played in Eastbourne last week, beating a British wildcard before losing in three sets to the Australian James Duckworth.

Altmaier is Highest Ranked German

With Alexander Zverev forced to sit out the Championship this year as he continues to recover from the fractured ankle he suffered at the French Open, Altmaier finds himself in the position of being the highest ranked German in the men’s singles this year.

Not that the German nation should be expecting too much of a man who has not even qualified for this event before.

He has had success this year, winning a Challenger event in Germany in May, but that was on clay.

His first experience of grass did not go so well – he was beaten in straight sets by Nick Kyrgios in Mallorca.

However, he fared better in Mallorca last week, defeating both Dusan Lajovic and Sebastian Baez, before losing in the quarter-finals to Benjamin Bonzi of France.

Ymer v Altmaier Prediction and Tip

Although there would appear to be very little to set them apart, Ymer has at least won a match at Wimbledon before and that experience may just give him the edge.

Tip: Ymer to win: 7/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
