Emil Ruusuvuori will be making his second main draw appearance at Wimbledon. The World no. 48 is 3-3 on grass this year and 5-3 including the qualifiers.

Ruusuvuori won his first round match at ‘s-Hertogenbosch, but lost in the second round to Ilya Ivashka. He qualified for the Queen’s Club Championships and then won the first two rounds to reach the quarterfinals, but his run ended with a defeat to Marin Cilic. In his last tournament in the lead-up to Wimbledon, the Finn was beaten by Ivashka again, this time in the opening round.

Ranked no. 48 in the world, Ruusuvuori has a 20-16 record this season. His reached his maiden ATP final in Pune and was a semifinalist in Melbourne.

Ruusuvuori has a 4-5 overall record on grass. On his Wimbledon debut last year, he was beaten by Marcos Giron in the opening round in five sets. He will be hoping to reach the second round this year, where he could be meeting the 21st seed Botic Van de Zandschulp, if the Dutch wins his opener against Feliciano Lopez.

Nishioka Has a 1-7 Career Record on Grass

Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka is set to make his fifth appearance at Wimbledon. After being knocked out in the opening round of his first three attempts, Nishioka finally got his first win at Wimbledon last year, beating John Isner in the opening round in a thrilling five-setter.

The left-handed Japanese player is 5-9 this season.The 26-year-old, who is at his best on hard courts, won the Columbus challenger and finished runner-up in the Cleveland challenger this year. On the tour, he reached the third round in Miami and was a quarterfinalist in Acapulco.

The World no. 101 hasn’t been in good form recently. He has not won a match since winning his second qualifying round in Munich against Yannick Hanfmann.

Nishioka’s five consecutive defeats include a first round loss in Munich, followed by first qualifying round losses in Madrid, Rome and Lyon and an opening round defeat to Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros.
