Nakashima Taking Out Semifinalist

Brandon Nakashima took down Denis Shapovalov in a very heated battle in round two. It’s a significant win for Nakashima, perhaps even his biggest due to the circumstances and event.

Shapovalov played in the semifinal last year and he played really well. Grass suits his game but he is also experiencing one of the worst slumps of his career. Pretty much since Rome he did not o anything of note and while this win is a great one for Nakashima it is a bit tainted by the Canadian’s slump.

He played a very strong match, there is no question about it. He served better and that was the key. Returning was a struggle all match long and that’s a known weakness for him. Had Shapovalov hit more than 46 % of first serves this match might have ended differently.

The American lost only 10 points behind his first serve and faced only one break point in the entire match. That is very promising.

Covid Win for Daniel Galan

Daniel Galan had quite some luck in his advancement to round three of Wimbledon. The Colombian player is not a natural fit on grass yet he’s here thanks to a virus called COVID that made it impossible for Roberto Bautista Agut to play.

The Spaniard tested positive and was forced to withdraw from this matchup. Galan would have had trouble in that matchup as he will most likely have trouble against his next opponent.

His game is not a natural fit on grass but he has some moments where she shows it could become effective one day. His serve is pretty precise and that helps. His groundstrokes are quite flat which also helps. He showed some of that potential against Domini Koepfer in round one.

The German is a pretty decent grass player so that win certainly means something. Can he do it again though?

Nakashima v Galan Prediction and Tip

One of these players naturally fits better on grass and that’s Nakashima. He’s proving it this year with a very solid level overall. His serve is good enough and he doesn’t drop many points behind it. While a good serve is something that Galan has as well, it’s not as good.

Nakashima will be in a very big advantage here, even if he has to win the match in three tiebreaks. I think he gets it done sooner so back the American.

Tip: Nakashima to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
