Frech Upsets Schmiedlova
Magdalena Frech, age 24, has just posted her best Grand Slam results by reaching the third round in Wimbledon. She will walk away with career-high prize money from a single tournament.
Exploits entailed a 7-6(4), 6-1 beating of the 21st seed, in-form Italian Camila Giorgi. This was followed by the 6-4, 6-4 win over Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.
Up until now, the current world number 92 had a mediocre year with 16-18. Barring a couple of deep runs in the Paris and Saint-Malo Challengers, Frech has spent most of the time losing in the opening few matches.
With no significant rhythm to her game and the 2021 Concord Challenger being her only noteworthy conquest, she will need to up her game significantly to surpass Simona.

Expect another straight-set win from Halep; she is in form and has the momentum. While upsets are common these days, Frech does not seem to be the kind of player who can something like this off – yet.
