Kvitova Continues to Shine

Considering the performance of the Czech so far, she has been absolutely stunning, to say the least. Her Australian Open series was a big hit, considering that she won the title in Sydney and reached the final in Melbourne. She was just one win away from winning her third Grand Slam trophy but ended up losing to Naomi Osaka in a thrilling final.

Kvitova is the defending champion in St. Petersburg. Last year, she won the title after edging past Kristina Mladenovic in the final. As for her form this time around, she enjoyed a bye into the second round and started her journey with a straight-set victory over the former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka.

The top seed is currently enjoying a resurgence, the foundation to which was laid in the previous season. She won five singles titles in 2018 and entered the top 10 once again, as a result. Her most notable title of the year was the Madrid Open.

Vekic Looking to Build Her Rhythm

Donna Vekic began her campaign in the tournament against the veteran Swiss Timea Bacsinszky in the first round. Following that three-set affair where was the winner, the Croat then met Veronika Kudermetova in the next round. It was an easy win for Vekic, who won the game 6-4, 6-3.

She enjoyed a decent run in Brisbane earlier this season, where she reached the semifinal. As for her run in the Australian Open, she made it as far as the second round.

Despite her rocky form of late, Vekic is a player who cannot be taken lightly. Last season, she defeated a couple of top 10 players like Sloane Stephens and Caroline Garcia. She was also the runner-up at the Washington Open.

Petra Kvitova v Donna Vekic Head to Head

The two ladies have met only once previously – the 2014 Miami Masters. It was in the third round and Kvitova won that match in straight sets.

Kvitova v Vekic – Prediction & Tips

On paper, this one is a no-brainer. Kvitova is clearly the stronger player here and is definitely far more experienced than her Croatian adversary. The Czech should be able to win this one comfortably in straight sets. Kvitova to win though and for that bet365 are offering 2/7.
