Kiki Bertens v Aryna Sabalenka Head to Head

This upcoming fixture will be the third time that the two top 10 players are set to go head to head against each other. So far, Bertens has been victorious in all of their encounters, including the most recent one in the 2018 French Open. The Dutch currently holds a 2-0 lead over Sabalenka.

Sabalenka Continues to Impress

The World No. 10  travelled to Russia following a third-round defeat to Amanda Anisiomva in the Australian Open. However, it didn’t take long for Sabalenka to keep that loss aside and get back to her winning ways. At just 20 years of age, Sabalenka has already broken into the top 10 and if it continues like this, she will soon find herself at the top.

Having enjoyed a bye into the second round as the fourth seed, she defeated the likes of Alison Van Uytvanck and Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets to reach the semis. She is now just two wins away from clinching the second title of the season (the first one being the Shenzhen Open).

It is definitely impressive to watch her play so well this season. Last year, she won two singles titles in Wuhan and Connecticut, preceded by a couple of defeats in the final at WTA Lugano and Eastbourne.

Bertens Seeking her First Title of the Season

So far this season, Bertens has had only one impressive run – she reached the semifinal in Sydney. As for her stint in the Australian Open, she lost in the second round to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

However, Bertens was quick to avenge that defeat in the quarterfinal in St. Petersburg. While Pavlyuchenkova did put up a good fight, she was ultimately defeated by the Dutch with 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.

Just like Sabalenka, Bertens too reached her career-best ranking at the No. 8 position in the world. Last season, she won three singles titles, the most impressive of which was the Cincinnati Open. It is fair to say that she has got in this rhythm only recently and her true test will be to retain that momentum.

Bertens v Sabalenka – Who Will Win?

This is set to be an epic clash that can very well be pulled to three sets. Both the players are evenly matched although, Bertens has the experience and the psychological edge owing to her lead in the head-to-head tally. At the same time, Sabalenka is a formidable opponent who has defeated many big names over the course of the last year.

Owing to this evenly contested tie, bet365 are offering 10/11 on both the players.

You can watch & bet on Kiki Bertens v Aryna Sabalenka here on Saturday, February 2. The match will start not before 2:00 pm local time (11:00 am BST).
