The third round of the 2019 WTA Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships will feature two of the most talented players on the WTA circuit on the opposite end of the court. Garbine Muguruza and Elina Svitolina will lock horns on Wednesday evening at around 7 pm local time (3 pm BST).

Garbine Muguruza v Elina Svitolina Head to Head
The two ladies have met a total of seven times on the tour and it is Svitolina who presently leads by a slim margin of 4-3. Two of those four wins came in the second half of 2017, most notably in the semifinal of the Italian Open and quarterfinal of the Canadian Open.
Muguruza Hoping for a Resurgence
The Spaniard hasn’t had the best of time on the tour over the course of the last year or so. She has been struggling with her form quite a bit and consequently, she now finds herself outside the top 10.
Muguruza, who last won the Monterrey Open last year, started this season in Sydney where she lost in the second round to Kiki Bertens. She followed that result with a fourth-round defeat in Melbourne and a shocking quarterfinal defeat in Hua Hin to Dayana Yastremska.
As for her run in Dubai so far, she started her campaign against Yastremska and managed to avenge that defeat in Hua Hin with a three-set victory. In the second round, she edged past Saisai Zheng in straight sets to set up the Svitolina clash.
Muguruza is a two-time Grand Slam champion, most notably winning the French Open and the Wimbledon in consecutive years, defeating Serena Williams and Venus Williams in the respective finals. She has the experience and the skill to win big here but her struggles with the form is something to be considered.
Svitolina Earns an Easy Win
The Ukranian has been seeded sixth for the tournament and consequently, she enjoyed a bye into the second round. In her opening campaign, she went up against Ons Jabeur and was on the path to victory before her Tunisian opponent retired from the match.
Svitolina is the two-time defending champion in Dubai and last year, she won the title after defeating Daria Kasatkina in the final. In fact, that was one of the four titles she won last season, with the other three being the WTA Brisbane, Italian Open, and the WTA Finals in Singapore.
The world No. 6 is heading into this fixture on the back of a semifinal run in Doha last week, where she lost to Simona Halep. She has been in a good form in recent weeks although, she can expect some resistance from Muguruza.
Svitolina v Muguruza Predictions & Tips
This game is too close to call and it can very well go either way. The two players are extremely competitive and will definitely push each other to the limit. A three-set affair wouldn’t be surprising here.
