Kei Nishikori v Hubert Hurkacz Head to Head
This will be the first time that the two players will be facing each other on the ATP Tour.
Nishikori Off to a Good Start
The Japanese No. 1 has been nothing short of brilliant so far this season. He started his campaign in Dubai on the same note with a straight-set victory over Benoit Paire.
With that win, his win-loss tally now stands at 12-2 as the World No. 6 continues to enjoy a splendid form on the tour. Nishikori started the year with a winning run at the Brisbane International and he followed it with a quarterfinal feat in the Australian Open.
He could have very well gone further but he was forced to retire against Novak Djokovic due to fatigue. After some rest, he participated in the ATP Rotterdam where he was a semifinalist, losing ultimately to Stan Wawrinka.
Needless to mention, Nishikori has been playing some brilliant tennis in recent weeks. Last season too, he had a similar run of things when he reached the final in Vienna, Tokyo, and the Monte-Carlo Masters.
Hurkacz Looking to Gain Some Traction
The 22-year-old Pole is heading into this fixture after defeating the French qualifier Corentin Moutet in the first round. This is only the second time this year that Hurkacz has made it past his opening round on the ATP Tour.
He achieved this feat back in ATP Marseille last week when he lost in the second round to Stefanos Tsitsipas. In addition to this, he has also played in a couple of Challenger events this season. He had great success in Canberra, where he won after defeating Ilya Ivashka in the final.

There is no doubt here that Nishikori will start this match as the favourite to win. Given his recent form and momentum, he should be able to defeat his Polish adversary comfortably.
