Sofia Kenin v Bianca Andreescu Head to Head

The pair have met once before on the WTA Challenger Tour in 2017, with Andreescu defeating in the semi-final of the 25k Rancho Open in Santa Fe, 6-3, 7-6.

Andreescu – A Maiden WTA Semi-Final

For 18-year old world number 68, Andreescu, Saturday’s match will be a first for her, representing her maiden appearance in a WTA senior event.

She has had a good week in Acapulco. Having beaten Jil Belen Teichmann of Switzerland in the first round, she put out the number four seed, Mihaela Buzãrnescu of Romania in straight sets in her next match, and then saw off another seed  Zheng Saisai in the quarter-finals.

Kenin will be a different order of  challenge altogether, but she does have the confidence of a previous win against her opponent behind her.

Kenin, Closing in on Second Final of the Year

The world number 37 has demonstrated the form this week that is making her one of the rising forces in the game.

Having won her first WTA tour event in Hobart in January, she is now closing in on her second final, and would have taken enormous heart from the way she battled past Victoria Azarenka, former world number one, in their quarter-final on Thursday, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

Earlier, Kenin got the better of Rebecca Peterson when she retired from the match, Katie Boulter in straight sets before that Azarenka win in three sets. Can she continue pressing on and surprising a favourite in this quarter-final?

Andreescu v Kenin Predictions & Tips

The bookmakers surprisingly make Andreescu the odds-on favourite to win the match with Kenin priced at 11/ 8 (bet365) . This is perhaps based on their one previous meeting, but given her recent record and better experience of playing at this level of the game, Kenin looks a better bet to win.
