Petra Kvitova v Venus Williams Head to Head

In the six times that they have met so far, Kvitova has been the winner on four of those occasions. Their last meeting took place in the 2017 US Open, where it was Williams who defeated the Czech only for the second time in her career.

Venus Survives an Early Scare

Venus started her campaign against the German Andrea Petkovic and things didn’t go according to the game plan for her. It was an odd day for the former World No. 1 who at the end of the first set, received some medical treatment.

After that, Williams had a dismal second set that ended up losing 0-6. But her winning experience from all those years came in handy as she dispatched Petkovic in the final set to eventually win the match 6-4, 0-6, 6-3.

Over the course of the last season or so, she hasn’t had the best time on the tour. The 2017 Wimbledon runner-up – a season that saw her collect silverware at the Australian Open and WTA Finals too – has been struggling with her form of late.

This year, she reached the third round in Auckland and Melbourne, losing respectively to Bianca Andreescu and Simona Halep. Many fans are speculating that this is possibly her last season the tour and if that is the case, she will be eager to make an impression one more time.

Kvitova’s Remarkable Consistency

Kvitova’s return to the tour following her recovery from the knife attack has been nothing short of inspirational. Last year, she won five singles titles, including the Madrid Open and Qatar Open.

What is more impressive here is the fact that she has carried that same rhythm to 2019 too. She won the title in Sydney and followed it with a runner-up feat in the Australian Open. She had a similar run in Dubai too, where she lost in the final to Belinda Bencic.

The World No. 3 has lost only a handful of matches this year. Her sheer form makes her one of the favourites in Indian Wells although, she will have to solve the Venus puzzle first.

Petra Kvitova v Venus Williams Tips & Predictions

We can expect Venus to give Kvitova a run for her money. While the Czech will start as the favourite to win, she will be aware of the threat that her opponent possesses. This is a mouth-watering fixture where we will see two of the most formidable players on the tour, right in the second round.

Tip: Kvitova to win: 8/25 (Unibet)
