Federer is coming off a title win in Dubai winning his 100th title, and is looking for another deep run this week.
Federer’s opponent and countryman Stanislas Wawrinka is no stranger having played alongside and across the net from him on several occasions. The outdoor hard courts of Indian Wells have suited Federer’s style of play in years past and he will hope the trend continues.
With his family here with him, Federer has claims he feels relaxed and is enjoying his time in Southern California, personally and professionally and that could spell danger for all oppositions.

Wawrinka Looking to Continue Return to Form
Stanislas Wawrinka continues to look for the game and consistency before the knee injury troubles of 2017-2018. Wawrinka has looked sharp at different times thus far this season, but also had some surprisingly disappointing losses and tight matches.
His Indian Wells campaign thus far has had two tight matches against Daniel Evans and Martin Fucsovics, with Wawrinka pulling through in the deciding set. Wawrinka is aware that he will need to put up a better performance against Roger Federer to have a chance of proceeding further.
Wawrinka was a finalist at Indian Wells in 2017, losing to Roger Federer in the final.

Wawrinka has looked good this season with some promising wins and continues to show some of the good form that got him to world number three before his injury.
