Roger Federer v Radu Albot Head to Head

This is the first time that Federer and Albot will be meeting.

Federer Looks to Spring Back from Indian Wells Loss

Roger Federer arrives in Miami at the back of good performances in Dubai, where he won his 100th ATP Title, and the Indian Wells Masters, where he was a losing finalist to first time Masters 1000 winner Dominic Thiem.

While Federer has said that he is happy with his performance and fitness, part of him will be ruing at missing out in the Indian Wells finals two years in a row.

Up a set against Thiem, and having break points in the decider, Federer was expected to close and lift the title. But, a spirited performance from the Austrian Thiem, ensured that was not to be.

Federer has won the Miami Open on three occasions, most recently in 2017, when he completed the Sunshine Masters, also winning the title at Indian Wells that year. Miami conditions will not be dissimilar to Indian Wells, apart from possibly being more humid. The outdoor hard courts should suite Federer’s game well and he will be hoping for another deep Masters run here.

With a difficult field and a challenging draw, Federer will be hoping to get through the early rounds with minimal trouble.

Roger Federer lost in his Miami Open opener to Aussie Thomas Kokkinakis and would like to ensure there is no repeat of such an early exit.

Albot Hopes to Continue Dream Start to Season

Moldovan Radu Albot has been on the professional ATP circuit for close to three years now and has accomplished many firsts for Moldovan. The most notable of all was at the Delray Beach Open last month, where he became the first Moldovan to win at ATP singles title, defeating Dan Evans in the final.

Albot is currently ranked a career high number 46 on the ATP tour. Albot had to play the qualifiers at the Miami Open and then defeated Australian Mathew Ebden in the first round. Albot won the first set 6-0 and at 2-2 in the second, the Aussie pulled out due to injury

Albot stands at only 5’9” but has excellent footwork and grit, and plays aggressively and on the front foot. Conditions such as Delray Beach and Miami are favorable to his playing style.

Roger Federer v Radu Albot Predictions & Tips

Albot is definitely on a high with confidence and form, given how 2019 has started off for him thus far, and he will like to make an impression on the Swiss Maestro. Federer has been in good form in the last few weeks and will look to capitalize on it. It is hard to envision Albot providing much of a challenge to Federer and we can expect Federer to win in two comfortable sets.

Tip: Federer to win first set 6-2: (odds of 5/1) or 6-3 (odds of 11/4) with bet365 .
