Alexander Zverev v David Ferrer Head to Head

The players have met six times on the ATP circuit with Zverev leading 4-2. The first two meetings went to the Spaniard, but Zverev has won the last four meetings, including last month at the Mexican Open in Acapulco.

Zverev Looking for Strong Miami Performance

World number three and 2018 Miami Open finalist Alexander Zverev, would have hoped for a better start to 2019 thus far. Disappointing early losses at the Australian Open and Indian Wells Masters were not what he would have expected or hoped for. A good run at the Mexico Open at Acapulco, was halted by a convincing victory by Nick Kyrgios in the final.

Zverev had a good run at Miami in 2018, losing a closely fought final to American John Isner, who won his first ATP Masters title. The courts and the weather have here typically suited Zverev, who is familiar with Florida, given the time spent by him there when he was younger.

With Stefanos Tsitsipas, Marin Cilic, Roger Federer, Frances Tiafoe and David Goffin in the same half of the draw as him, Zverev will be hoping for some straight forward early round victories to give him confidence, and conserve energy for the latter stages.

Ferrer Hopes to Continue Swansong Run

Spanish veteran David Ferrer is playing his last Miami Open, having mentioned that he will be ending his career at the Madrid Masters this summer.

Former world number three, the 36-year-old Spaniard has had a career where he has made an impact despite being in the same era as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray. Ferrer, a clay court specialist, is best known for his grit, resolve and fighting spirit.

Ferrer had a very convincing straight set win against American Sam Querrey and will hope to continue the form further into the tournament. With the slower Miami hard courts to his liking, Ferrer can be a threat to higher ranked players in the draw, with his vast experience and relentless stamina.

Zverev v Ferrer Predictions & Tips

Ferrer is looking to end his career in style and will not go out without a fight, and hopes to continue the form from his previous round. But, he is up against Zverev, who has done well in Miami last year and will look to make amends to an indifferent start to the season. Expect Zverev to win in straight sets.

Tip: Zverev to win 2-0: 10/13 (Unibet)
