Andreescu Continues to be Clinical
Andreescu, who won the Indian Wells Open a week or so ago, is yet to show signs of slowing down. Her win-loss record is currently the best on the tour – 28-3. Those three defeats came in the final of WTA Auckland, second round in the Australian Open, and the semifinal of the Mexican Open.
The young Canadian also won the 125K Series event in Newport Beach in a bid to build her momentum. Following her sensational performance in Indian Wells, where the 18-year-old Andreescu defeated Garbine Muguruza, Elina Svitolina, and Angelique Kerber, she has carried the same rhythm to Miami too.
In fact, after defeating Irina-Camelia Begu and Sofia Kenin, she met Kerber once again and defeated the German 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

Kontaveit Looking Confident
Kontaveit reached the fourth round in Indian Wells where she lost to Karolina Pliskova. However, she has another chance here to break that jinx and go further in Miami. So far, she has defeated Amanda Anisimova and Ajla Tomljanovic in three sets.
Her match against Tomljanovic was quite tricky, to begin with, with two of the three sets ending up in tie-breakers. In fact, Kontaveit won the match by clinching the nervy tie-breakers with a slim margin.
While the Estonian hasn’t been as consistent as her Canadian counterpart, she has delivered some interesting results. Last year, she was the runner-up in the Wuhan Open and this season, she defeated Petra Kvitova in Sydney.

Andreescu will start this match as the favourite to win. She has been in a brilliant form of late and having just defeated a top 10 player, it is hard to see her succumbing to Kontaveit.
