Karen Khachanov has played in the French Open round of 16 last two seasons and has lost there to Andy Murray and Sascha Zverev, expected results with those two being his opponents.
Now, he can’t face any of the top title contenders before the quarterfinals at least (del Potro is his projected round of 16 opponent this year) and he could go at least a step further than in the previous two appearances in Paris.
His record on clay in 2019 is just 3-5 but expect Khachanov to raise his form with every new opponent.
Stebe Is Hardly a Professional Tennis Player At This Point
A promising career of former 71st ranked player Stebe got destroyed by injuries and he has had numerous hip and wrist surgeries so far, not being even 29 years old (will turn 29 in October).
The last two wrist surgeries have kept him off tennis courts for a long time and just as he got back to tennis in January of last year (retired to Rublev in Doha after losing the 1st set 6-1 and Lost in straight sets to Marterer) he had to pause 15 more months and has lost all three matches after the comeback in straight sets (to Tsonga in Marrakech, Istomin in Munich qualifiers and Brown at the Heilbronn Challenger).
This is awful news for the former top 50 hopeful and I don’t see a top 200 player who Stebe could beat at the moment.

One cannot really see how Khachanov could lose more than three or four games per set to this kind of Stebe. Expect a quick straight-set victory for the six years younger Russian player.
