None of the seeded players made it to the final with unseeded, lucky loser Cori Gauff riding on her luck to go all the way to win the title. She edged out the Latvian, former French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko to clinch the trophy. Gauff had earlier shocked the top seeded Kiki Bertens in the quarterfinals and while she had her struggles throughout the tournament, her fighting spirit shone through.
