Maria Sakkari v Karolina Muchova Head to Head
At the highest level there have been three meetings, all of which came on clay and Muchova has won them all. This includes once earlier this season at the French Open first round.

Having gotten bundled out in the opener at the Canadian Open, Sakkari had entered the Cincinnati Open with a need to get something under her belt in the lead-up to the US Open.
And for a while in her second round match against Sorana Cirstea, it looked like Sakkari wasn’t quite living up to her 11/20 favourites (with bet365) odds as she lost her serve twice and wasn’t able to generate any break-points return.
Sakkari would then go on to take a 4-0 lead in the second set, lose her serve two more times before breaking Cirstea one more time to level the proceedings.
In a way cagier final set, neither player got too many chances on the other’s serve but off the third break-point opportunity that Sakkari got she broke Cirstea. That came in the 11th game before serving it out to win 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in two hours and 20 minutes.

Muchova in Another Three-Setter
It’s been a season to remember for Muchova who climbed up to her career-best ranking of 16th in the world earlier this year. That was thanks to her appearance in the final of the French Open and a quarterfinal showing at the Indian Wells Open.
And with a second round win over Petra Martic, Muchova improved to 18-7 in hardcourt competitions this season, having earlier also sent out Beatriz Haddad Maia.
Such has been Muchova’s confidence and form, she was a 1/2 favourite against the higher-ranked Haddad Maia and went into her encounter against Martic at 1/3 odds (with bet365) to win it.
Martic did put up a strong showing though and Muchova was on court for over two and a half hours to carve out a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win – the difference in their second serves stats (63% to 47%) helping Muchova win it.
Sakkari will be a difficult opponent but rather interestingly, Muchova starts off a favourite.
