Two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka could miss the 2017 US Open because of a custody battle of her son.
Azarenka, who reached a career-high ranking of number one in 2012, separated from her partner, Billy McKeague in July, and has now filed for the custody of her eight-month old son.
According to a report in TMZ, what that implies is the child cannot leave California till a settlement is reached. Azarenka does not want to leave her child with McKeague, and that means she will have to remain in California, as a result of which she might have to miss the US Open.

The world number 203 from Belarus has already withdrawn from the Cincinnati Open citing a family matter but hasn’t given out any information about the same.
Azarenka’s ranking fell to outside 200 after issues with her injuries before she decided to take a break for the birth of her son. She has twice managed to make it to the final of the US Open, in 2012 and 2013, losing to Serena Williams in both those matches.
Her Australian Open victories came in 2012 and 2013, after she defeated Maria Sharapova and Li Na in the final of the competition there.
