Former wold number one Maria Sharapova has appeared on the cover of the Hamptons Magazine in the lead-up to the 2017 US Open where she will be playing after receiving a wild-card.
With her autobiography releasing soon enough, Sharapova is the cover-star of the August edition of Hamptons. And it coincides with the news she will featuring at the final Grand Slam of the year after been awarded a wild-card.

Sharapova, who won the US Open in 2006, last played in a Grand Slam tournament in 2016 when she appeared at the Australian Open. She made it to the quarter-final before losing to Serena Williams in straight sets.
However, she was later suspended for 15 months from tennis after testing positive for a banned drug, and returned back to tennis only in April 2017. Since then Sharapova has featured in four WTA tournaments and her best performance has been at the Stuttgart Open where she reached the semi-final.

She wasn’t given the wild-cards to feature at either the French Open or Wimbledon but will welcome the news that she will be playing at Flushing Meadows despite having fallen to number 148th in the world.
Interestingly, with Sharapova’s book, Unstoppable: My Life So Far, expected to release in September 2017, her arch-rival Serena Williams has come out with a scathing criticism of the Russian.
Williams said:
“I feel like people think I’m mean. Really tough and really mean and really street. But Maria Sharapova, who might not talk to anybody, might be perceived by the public as being nicer.”
She added:
“Why is that? Because I’m black and so I look mean? That’s the society we live in. That’s life. They say African-Americans have to be twice as good, especially women. I’m perfectly OK with having to be twice as good.”

In her book, Sharapova has claimed to have pushed Williams to her greatness after beating her at the 2004 Wimbledon. Sharapova has alleged Serena called her “little b****” and swore she would never go down to Sharapova again.
With Williams out of action as she expects the birth of her first child, her on-field rivalry with Sharapova will need to wait for awhile.
